1Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Some areas — in particular the dealer portal and calculator tools at jotex.co — have their own terms, which apply in addition to these. Where a supply of goods or installation services is involved, our Terms and Conditions of Sale govern the supply and take precedence over these terms to the extent of any inconsistency.
2Who operates this site
jotexsunshades.com is owned and run by Jotex Smarthome Sdn. Bhd. (Company No. 202301039156 (1533076-W)), PT 4962, Jalan Haruan 7, Oakland Industrial Park, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, part of the Jotex Group. Where a page links through to the dealer portal at jotex.co or to another Jotex group site, that site may carry its own terms, which apply to your use of it.
3Permitted use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to access and view this site, and to use its content for the purpose of evaluating, specifying, quoting, installing or purchasing Jotex Sunshades products. You may print or download extracts for that purpose.
You may not:
- Resell, redistribute or commercially exploit the content, or present it as your own
- Systematically extract, scrape or copy the product range, images, specifications, pricing or calculator logic, whether manually or by automated means
- Use the content to develop, market or support a competing product range, price list or calculator
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice
- Interfere with the operation or security of the site, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it
4Fabric colour and appearance
Screen images are a guide, not a colour match. Confirm against a physical swatch from the current batch before ordering, cutting or committing to a client specification.
Colour, weave, texture and openness shown on this site are affected by photography and lighting conditions, your display calibration, operating system colour profile, browser rendering and screen brightness. Two people looking at the same page on different devices will not see the same colour.
Roller blind fabrics also vary in ways an image cannot capture. Dye lots differ between production runs, so fabric from one batch may not match fabric of the same reference from another. Sunscreen fabrics transmit light, so the apparent colour of a blind changes dramatically between a lit and an unlit room, and between daytime and night viewing from outside. Blackout fabrics may show pinholes at needle or seam points, which is inherent to the construction. Width and roll tolerances apply.
Order all fabric for a single project in one order and from one batch wherever possible, and check every roll for colour, pattern and flaws before cutting. Claims relating to colour, batch variation or visible defects must be raised before the fabric is cut or made up, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of Sale. Once fabric has been cut or fabricated we cannot accept a claim on those grounds.
5Specifications and performance data
Figures published on this site — GSM, openness factor, composition, width, roll diameter, tube and bracket dimensions, track profile dimensions, motor torque, speed, noise rating, IP rating, battery life, radio range, lightfastness, flame retardancy and similar — are typical values obtained under specified test conditions on sample material. They are indicative, not a guarantee of performance in your application.
Actual performance depends on the end use, the construction and installation, exposure to sunlight, humidity and salt air, cleaning method, and normal wear. Openness factors describe the fabric as tested, not the glare, heat gain or privacy you will experience in a particular room with a particular aspect.
Where a fabric or component is described as flame retardant, meeting a particular standard, or suitable for commercial, hospitality or healthcare use, you are responsible for confirming that it meets the specific regulatory, building-code and project requirements that apply to your installation, and for obtaining current test certificates from us for that batch where certification is required.
Care and cleaning guidance is given in good faith. Test any cleaning method on a concealed area first. We are not responsible for damage caused by cleaning, treatment or processing carried out by you or a third party.
6The dealer calculators
The roller blind, curtain track and installation calculators produce estimates for a competent professional to check. They do not replace site measurement, engineering judgement, or your own responsibility for what you quote and install.
The calculators size blinds and tracks, estimate fabric and component quantities, recommend a motor for a given weight and drop, price a job, estimate installation time, transport and scaffolding, and generate a quotation you can send on. They work from the dimensions and options you enter and from our published product data.
Specifically, an output from a calculator:
- Is only as good as the measurements and options entered into it. Garbage in, garbage out, and we cannot tell the difference
- Assumes standard configurations, standard components and normal site conditions
- Is not a structural, load or engineering calculation, and does not assess whether a wall, ceiling, lintel or plasterboard fixing will carry the assembly
- Does not account for out-of-square openings, non-standard reveals, obstructions, raked or curved heads, wind exposure, or anything else that a site visit would reveal
- Is not a quotation from us to you, and does not fix a price. The price that applies is the one confirmed in our order acknowledgement or invoice
- Is not confirmation that the items are in stock
A motor recommendation is a starting point based on calculated weight and drop. Confirm it against the current motor datasheet and against the actual assembled weight, and specify up where a job sits near the limit of a motor's rating. Running a motor at or beyond its rated load shortens its life and is not a warranty matter.
Where a calculator output is passed to your customer as your quotation, it becomes your quotation. You are responsible for checking it before it goes out. We are not liable for loss arising from an error in a quotation you issued, whatever tool you used to produce it.
7Motors, warranty and electrical safety
A-OK motors and control products are manufactured by a third party and supplied by us. The manufacturer's warranty terms, ratings and instructions apply, and are supplied with the product. Nothing on this site varies them.
Warranty covers defects in the product. It does not cover damage or failure caused by incorrect motor selection, exceeding the rated load or duty cycle, incorrect wiring, water ingress, power surge or lightning, unauthorised repair or modification, or installation that departs from the manufacturer's instructions.
Mains-powered motors must be connected by a person competent and authorised to carry out electrical work under Malaysian law. Nothing on this site is an instruction to carry out electrical work, and no drawing, diagram or wiring note published here is a substitute for the manufacturer's installation instructions or for the requirements of the Electricity Supply Act and its regulations.
Blinds and tracks are suspended loads over occupied space. Fixings, brackets and substrate are the installer's responsibility. Child safety requirements apply to corded and chain operated products; where a product is supplied with safety devices, they must be fitted.
Lithium battery motors must be charged with the supplied or specified charger only, and must not be installed where they cannot be safely accessed for charging or replacement.
8Smart home features and Matter
Smart features depend on equipment, software and services we do not own or control: the Tuya / Smart Life app, the customer's WiFi network and router, Zigbee or RF hubs, and the Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple ecosystems.
We do not warrant that any of these will remain available, remain compatible, or continue to behave as they do today. Third parties change their apps, protocols, account requirements and integration terms without reference to us, and a feature that works at the time of installation may be altered or withdrawn by its provider afterwards. Setting up and maintaining app accounts, network connectivity and voice assistant links is the customer's or installer's responsibility, not ours.
“Matter ready” describes a roadmap, not a present capability. Where this site refers to Matter, it means we intend to support the protocol as it becomes available on the relevant products. It is not a commitment that any specific product, already sold or sold today, will be certified for Matter, will receive a firmware update enabling it, or will work with any particular Matter controller. Do not specify a job on the basis of a future Matter capability. If Matter support is a requirement of your project, ask us in writing for the current certified status of the exact model before you order.
Smart home functionality is a convenience layer over a mechanical product. Blinds and tracks should remain operable by their manual or remote control means if an app, hub or network fails, and should be specified on that basis.
How the app provider and the voice assistant platforms handle personal data is set out in their own privacy policies. Our position is explained in section 8 of our Privacy Statement: we supply the motor, and we have no access to the app account, the schedules, or the record of when a blind operates.
9Installation, site conditions and rates
Installation rates, service charges, transport and scaffolding figures published on this site or returned by the installation calculator are standard rates for standard conditions. They assume clear, safe and timely access to the site, a prepared opening, available power where needed, and no unusual height, obstruction or finish protection requirement.
Where site conditions differ, additional charges apply and the job may need to be rescheduled. Wasted visits caused by site unreadiness, denied access or incorrect measurements are chargeable. Minimum charges apply to the installation and transport portion of a job as set out in our current rate card.
Site measurement is the responsibility of whoever takes the measurements. Where you measure and we manufacture to your figures, we make to those figures. Where our team measures, the measurement record we issue is the basis of manufacture, and should be checked and confirmed before production starts.
10Availability and pricing
Our range differs between markets and changes over time. A product shown here may not be sold in your country, may be out of stock, or may have been discontinued since the page was last updated. Listing a product is not a representation that we hold it or that we will continue to carry it.
Mills and manufacturers revise constructions, motors are superseded and colourways are retired, so specifications, collections, component ranges and availability can change at any time. Prices shown on the site or in the dealer portal are indicative; the price that applies is the one confirmed in our order acknowledgement or invoice. We correct errors in listed prices, descriptions or stock figures when we find them, and an obvious error does not bind us.
11Dealer portal accounts
Dealer portal access is granted to approved businesses for their own use. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential, for all activity under your account, and for telling us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. Do not share credentials with anyone outside your business.
Pricing, stock levels, margin information, calculator logic and trade documentation available through the portal are confidential to you and must not be disclosed to third parties or published.
Use the portal the way it is meant to be used: sign in as yourself, look things up, calculate, quote and order. Do not script, scrape or bulk-export stock, pricing or calculator data, run automated queries against it, share a login across businesses, or attempt to reach data belonging to another account. We log portal access, and we may suspend or withdraw access where these terms or your trading terms are breached.
12Orders and payment
An order you place through the dealer portal, by email or through a representative is an offer to buy on our Terms and Conditions of Sale. A contract is formed only when we issue an order acknowledgement. Until then we may decline the order, in whole or in part, including where stock shown as available has since been allocated, where a price was listed in error, or where your account is outside its credit terms.
Stock figures shown in the portal are a live view of a moving position and are not a reservation. Goods are allocated when an order is acknowledged, not when they are viewed.
Made-to-measure goods are manufactured to the dimensions confirmed on the order and cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged once production has begun, except where they are defective.
Where online card payment is offered in future, payment will be taken by a licensed payment gateway operating under its own terms. We do not receive or store your card details. Any dispute about the payment mechanism itself is between you and the gateway operator or your card issuer; disputes about the goods remain with us.
13Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, photography, product imagery, technical drawings, specifications, collection names, calculator logic and interfaces, layouts, graphics, video and software — is owned by or licensed to Jotex Smarthome Sdn. Bhd. and is protected by copyright, trademark and design laws in Malaysia and internationally.
JOTEX and JOTEX Sunshades, together with the associated logos and get-up, are trademarks of the Jotex Group. Nothing on this site grants you any licence to use them. Any unauthorised use of our brands, designs, product data or imagery may be actionable.
A-OK, Tuya, Smart Life, Matter, Zigbee, Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Siri are the property of their respective owners and are used here only to identify those parties' products and services. We claim no rights in them and no endorsement by them.
14Image download licence
Some product photography on this site can be downloaded. Downloading it gives you a revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence, for one purpose only: selling the Jotex Sunshades product pictured. Use it in your quotations, mood boards, client presentations, catalogues and social posts for that product.
What the licence does not cover: retouching that misrepresents the colour, openness, construction or finish of the product; illustrating another supplier's goods; passing the photography off as your own work; or sub-licensing it to anyone else. How you use a downloaded image is your responsibility, including any claim it gives rise to. We can end the licence at any time, and you should stop using the images when we do.
15Material you send us
If you send us suggestions, ideas or feedback about our products, tools or this site — other than personal data, which is handled under our Privacy Statement, and other than information exchanged under a signed confidentiality agreement — we may use it without restriction and without any obligation to you. We are not obliged to use it, to keep it confidential, or to pay for it.
Please do not send us confidential or proprietary information, or your customers' personal data beyond what a job requires, through this site. Internet transmissions are not secure and may be intercepted.
16Third-party links and services
This site links to other websites and references third-party apps and platforms. We provide those links for convenience only. We do not control those sites or services, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, products, availability, terms or privacy practices. Using them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.
17Availability of the site
We aim to keep the site and the dealer tools up, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance, upgrades, supplier outages and commercial decisions may mean part or all of the site is unavailable, restricted or withdrawn. We will give notice where it is practical to do so, and we accept no liability for the interruption itself.
We scan and monitor the site, but no operator can guarantee that a website or a downloaded file carries no malicious code. Run your own anti-virus protection, and keep your own backups.
18No warranty
We publish this site as a catalogue, reference and set of working tools, not as a warranted specification. It is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, and to the fullest extent the law allows we give no representation, warranty or condition of any kind, express or implied — including that the content or any calculator output is accurate, complete, current, of satisfactory quality, suitable for any particular purpose, or free of third-party rights.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
19Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings, however arising from your use of this site or your inability to use it.
That expressly includes loss arising from a specification, quotation, motor selection, cutting or installation decision made in reliance on colour images, published figures or a calculator output, rather than on a physical sample, the current manufacturer datasheet, a site measurement and your own professional judgement.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with your use of this site, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), statute or otherwise, is limited to [RM1,000.00 / the amount you paid to us for the goods or services to which the claim relates, whichever is greater].
This section does not affect your rights or our obligations under a contract of sale or installation between us, which are governed by our Terms and Conditions of Sale.
20Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us and our officers, employees and agents against any claim, loss, liability and reasonable cost arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the site or the dealer tools, or your infringement of any third party's rights through your use of content obtained from this site.
21Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms at any time by posting the revised version on this page with an updated date. Changes apply from the date they are posted. Continued use of the site after that date means you accept the revised terms.
22Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia in respect of any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or your use of the site.
23General
These terms, together with our Privacy Statement and Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between us regarding your use of this site. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force. A delay in enforcing any right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign your rights under these terms without our written consent.
